Candlelighters for Children-Camp Harlow

Mission: “The importance of Camp is to provide opportunities for families to connect with others who have the same questions about their childhood cancer challenges. In addition, Family Camp provides a special camp experience so that not only is the child with cancer provided a fun-filled weekend of traditional camping fun, recreation and activities, but the parents and siblings can enjoy a weekend where the worries of treatments and associated struggles are left behind. It is an invaluable opportunity to share experiences, play and laugh together, and simply forget about the stress that childhood cancer has brought to their lives.”

Resources Provided:
-Labor Day weekend family camp that includes horseback riding, swimming, campfires, arts, and crafts, rock climbing wall, go-carts, and more.
-$50 deposit/child

Camp Agape

Mission: “The camp programing and activities are carefully planned. Each activity is designed to encourage family bonding, to include children of all ages along with their parents. Consideration is given to cancer kid’s low immunity, allergies, and safety for all ages. The goal is to create safe, positive & happy family memories.”

Resources Provided:
-Free  5 day camp at the beginning of August that includes arts, crafts, campfires, swimming, food, and fun activities for families affected by cancer.

Mission: “Candlelighters provides frontline assistance to families of cancer patients, ages 0-21, as they battle the emotional stresses of their experiences. The connections made with other members who have been through it all and know how to help is tremendously supportive. Meetings, personal assistance and activities for families provide the outlets needed to share the fear and frustrations caused by childhood cancer.”

Sparrow Club

|

Mission: Sparrow Clubs USA is primarily a Pacific Northwest charity, serving in the states of Oregon and Washington. During the recent recession, we have had to pull back from operating outside the Pacific Northwest due to the lack of resources. The recent airing of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition featuring the McPhail family and Sparrow Clubs has sparked a large interest in Sparrow Clubs across the nation. While we would love to be able to launch Sparrow projects in every state, it is just not possible at this time. Our Board of Directors is willing to review inquiries outside of Oregon and Washington on a case by case basis.
